I'm really having fun with this project! Here's another world from this era I'm now calling ''The Solar Twilight''
Before Europa, Titan once was the center of human activity in the solar system. It's large lakes of liquid methane attracted a lot of missions and it was the first moon of the outer solar system to be colonized and fully self-sufficient. When it was first reached, the discovery of unicellular life on the surface, similar to that discovered on Enceladus, sparked even more interest towards the mysterious world. Titan quickly became a major center of fuel production, with many refineries and sprawling cities being built around the lakes. During it's peak, Titan was home to as much as half of humanity.
Unfortunately, the colossal demands in fuel production destroyed all bacterial life on the moon and rendered it uninhabitable. The public was forced to flee to Europa, with a small population of workers staying in order to keep the fuel industry going. Today, Titan is a barren and toxic world with little remaining activity. A few refineries are still in operation, handled by a population of thousands providing the solar system with most of it's fuel supply. Despite it's key role in humanity's survival, Titan is mostly viewed as a dead world and a reminder of one of it's greatest failures.
