Solar Twilight - Earth

This is a little project I started because I wanted to do some worldbuilding of my own.

This is the earth, around a million years in the future. The sun has reached the end of his life much faster than previously thought, and is already growing into his final stage of red giant. This disrupts the moon's orbit, which comes crashing down towards earth. The moon then shatters under earth's crushing gravity and forms a large ring system over the planet. The sun also affects earth's climate, slowly drying up the oceans until the entire surface is transformed into a scorched desert.

As for us humans though, we are mostly safe. The growth of the sun is an event that was predicted long ago, so humanity had time to prepare. Colonies were settled troughout the solar system to ensure our survival as a species.

I'm gonna expand this AU with more planets, characters and events as time goes on
